Theoretically I suppose that can happen. For such situation I always apply to StatusGator for github status You see, these guys monitor the status pages of more than 830 cloud services and send you alerts you via email, Slack, SMS, and more. The user would want to set up a new central remote ref for the collaborators, so off he/she goes onto migrating to other platforms like GitLab or BitBucket, etc. The actual loss here is of Issue Trackers, CI Integrations, Automation and OAuth etc.
