Dolls and Dolls' Houses Panoramic Views

Room 8: Dolls and Dolls' Houses

In this room, numerous exhibits demonstrate the development of the doll from fashion and demonstration object to plaything between about 1750 and the 1950s. The dolls' houses shown here range from the era of Biedermeier to Historism and Art Nouveau right through to the 1940s. They not only illustrate the change in life styles, but also give a vivid picture of the lives of middle-class families.
