Like folate do not take iron except recommended. Though folate is very good for women and pregnant women especially, it is not to be taken indiscriminately. Iron also has the ability to cause iron poisoning. In hemolysis of the blood, iron is lost from the destroyed blood cells and stored in the liver. These kinds of people appear to be anemic and are tempted to start taking multivitamins. It is worthy to note that, though they will do well with multivitamins, it should not contain Iron because they already have iron stored in the liver form the broken down blood cells and so taking Iron will lead to toxicity.
The formulation of the multivitamin for men matters too. Some come in syrup, tablets and even capsules. Syrup will be better for children since they may refuse to swallow the tablets or capsule. Also most multivitamin syrups have pleasant taste and children will love anything that is sweet. The amount of energy you put in trying to make a child take a tablet and when you just want him/her to take sweet syrup is considerably different.
