The standard fuels for cars today are gas, diesel, and ethanol mixed with gasoline. The hybrid cars are designed to use electricity at certain times and gas at other times. In this article we will look at the Tesla, which is an all electric car. It is the first product from Tesla motors, which is named after the man who, more than a hundred years ago, invented alternating electric current, the radio, and other modern concepts.
The Tesla is based on the Lotus Elise, and is a high-performance sports car fueled by an electric motor running off a battery. Many of us have only used electric golf carts, and view them as very low power, low acceleration vehicles. The Tesla can go zero to 60 miles an hour in 4.4 seconds, and this on a rain soaked road. It also is able to cruise at over 104 mph. The Tesla does not have that loud whine that one can expect from an electric machine, but the car noises are the same road noises that you would expect from any car.
