TXT’s “The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE” also spent its 39th consecutive week on the chart at No. 12, extending its own record as the longest-charting album released in 2021.
Finally, BLACKPINK’s “THE ALBUM” ranked No. 13 in its 73rd week on the chart, while ITZY’s “CRAZY IN LOVE” held onto its spot at No. 15 in its 21st week.
Congratulations to all of the artists!
BTS isn’t currently promoting any new single at the moment, as the band is on a bit of a break, but that doesn’t mean the members are all relaxing. In fact, many of them are working overtime on their solo projects, and now one of them has landed an important win on the Billboard chart the group knows better than any other. As one of the seven singers that make up the biggest band in the world hits No. 1, several other beloved K-pop acts break onto the tally as well with just-dropped songs.
Here are four tracks whose moves are worth noting on this week’s World Digital Song Sales chart.
No. 1 - Jung Kook - “Stay Alive”
This week, the World Digital Song Sales chart is ruled by a brand new title, as Jung Kook’s “Stay Alive” starts at No. 1. The BTS member lands his first ruler on any Billboard list with his latest solo release, which was produced and co-written by his bandmate Suga.
No. 8 - Taeyeon - “INVU”
The top 10 on the latest edition of the World Digital Song Sales chart features three debuts, with the second-highest-ranking of the bunch coming from one of the most successful female singers in K-pop history. Taeyeon got her start as a member of Girls' Generation, and since that group split, she has continued to dominate various rankings both in the U.S. and South Korea as a soloist (in addition to her work with supergroups Girls' Generation-TTS, SM the Ballad, Girls' Generation-Oh!GG and recently Got the Beat). Her new single “INVU,” which fronts her album of the same name, kicks off its time on the tally at No. 8.
Taeyeon has now broken into the top 10 with at least a dozen hits under her own name, and that's to say nothing of the many appearances she managed as a member of her many groups.
No. 9 - Wonho - “Eye on You”
Landing right behind Taeyeon is the third and final debut inside the World Digital Song Sales chart’s top 10, which comes from power player Wonho. The former Monsta X singer turned solo star is back on the ranking with his latest offering, “Eye on You,” which launches at No. 9 on the 15-spot tally. The tune, which introduces his single album Obsession, appears to be his third appearance inside the top 10 on the purchase-only list (on his own, at least).
No. 14 - Apink - “Dilemma”
South Korean girl group Apink narrowly breaks onto the World Digital Song Sales chart with their new single “Dilemma,” which starts at No. 14, one spot above the lowest rung. The cut could mark just their seventh time appearing anywhere on the list, and it helps power their new full-length album Horn.
