SM Entertainment’s new project girl group GOT the beat made their thrilling stage debut at SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMCU EXPRESS @ KWANGYA on January 1.

GOT the beat is the first unit in SM Entertainment’s Girls on Top (GOT) project, where female SM Entertainment artists join forces in different sub-units. It is similar to SuperM in that artists from different groups come together in a project group, but unlike SuperM, there will be a rotational lineup.

GOT the beat consists of BoA, Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon and Taeyeon, Red Velvet’s Seulgi and Wendy, and aespa’s Karina and Winter.

On January 1 at 1 p.m. KST, a stellar lineup of SM artists performed at the online concert SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMCU EXPRESS @ KWANGYA, which was broadcast live for free on YouTube and Beyond LIVE. GOT the beat performed together for the first time at the concert with their new song “Step Back.”

The video of GOT the beat’s “Step Back” performance was later uploaded to their YouTube channel.

On January 1st, GOT the beat, the first unit from the label's Girls on Top project, performed their debut stage at 'SMTOWN LIVE 202: SMCU EXPRESS'. Shortly after the reveal, many netizens gathered to a popular online community to share their reactions.

The majority of netizens shared their disappointments with the song saying the lyrics basically saying 'step back from my man' are abysmally old-fashioned and the beats aren't impressive either.

Then, many netizens started to spin their disappointments into humor, writing comments such as:

SM Entertainment’s newest powerhouse girl group, GOT the beat, made their debut performance on Saturday, January 1, during the “2021 Winter SMTOWN: SMCU EXPRESS @ KWANGYA” digital concert.

“Step Back” sees the members of GOT the beat showcasing their impressive vocal range and dance skills. The music video has garnered nearly four million views within 18 hours of its release.

GOT the beat, composed of BoA, Girls’ Generation members Taeyeon and Hyoyeon, Red Velvet’s Seulgi and Wendy, and aespa’s Karina and Winter, is the first unit in SM Entertainment’s Girls On Top (GOT) project.

The GOT project will reportedly feature several female artists from SM Entertainment in various sub-units. The concept is similar to SuperM, the male supergroup introduced in 2019 by the agency. But unlike SuperM, the GOT project will have a rotational lineup.

Prior to their first performance, SM Entertainment also released a practice video of GOT the beat. Fans were delighted to see the unit members, who hail from different K-pop generations and are of different ages, bonding and having fun while preparing for their performance.

Jae has parted ways with DAY6 and JYP Entertainment.

Melon has shared a closer look at the artists and songs that received the most love from its younger listeners this year!

As it prepares to wrap up 2021, Melon—Korea’s largest streaming service—has analyzed the favorite artists and songs of its Gen Z listeners by demographic. Using data from January 1 to November 21, Melon has released lists of the top 10 favorite artists of male and female listeners in their teens and twenties in 2021.

IU was overwhelmingly the most popular artist of the year among younger listeners, sweeping the No. 1 spot for every demographic except teenage females. Meanwhile, NCT also had an incredible year, with their various units claiming four of the top 10 spots on the list of teenage females’ favorite artists for 2021.

With a premise of three women in hospice coming together to murder someone, “The One and Only” seemed like it was going to be an incredible drama from the start. Although this is a romance drama, the standout relationship of the show is between Pyo In Sook (Ahn Eun Jin), Kang Se Yeon (Kang Ye Won), and Sung Mi Do (Joy). While Pyo In Sook and Sung Mi Do get off on the entirely wrong foot, it takes mere seconds for Sung Mi Do to step up and be supportive once it’s revealed that Pyo In Sook’s grandma Yook Sung Ja (Go Doo Shim) has been beaten badly by her neighbor who then moved on to his daughter Ha San Ah (Seo Yeon Woo). Kang Se Yeon is quick to join as well and sets the murder plot into motion by asking if it would be okay to take one person with them since they are terminally ill.

Guardiola praised Foden for his 'exceptional' performance and credited the forward for marking his return to the starting XI - after being dropped for an ill-timed night out with Jack Grealish - with the decisive goal.

Foden and Grealish were left on the bench during Manchester City's 4-0 win at Newcastle following an indiscretion during the week building up to the fixture.

When asked if Foden had to prove himself against Brentford, Guardiola said: 'Absolutely not. He doesn't have to prove anything to me.
