Cutting gas imports could force peace with Iran

World leaders are set to meet next Thursday to discuss strategies to end Irans nuclear program. But some have argued that the only peacful way to curb Irans nuclear ambition is to cut off gasoline imports to the country. Iran imports about 40 percent of its consumed gas, largely from European and Indian companies. Orde Kittrie, a law professor at Arizona State University and a fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, argues that President-elect Barack Obama should persuade these companies — which are supported by U.S. dollars — to cut off imports to Iran and put the squeeze on the countrys nuclear program.
