The tertiary sector of Mauritius is characterized by two universities, the University of Mauritius and the University of Technology, Mauritius, and other tertiary institutions. The sector is managed by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) which has, inter alia, the responsibility for allocating public funds, and fostering, planning and coordinating the development of post-secondary education and training.
