Why does this technique work? To be honest I am not completely sure. There is some kind of dynamic going on whereby that the more we resist and get away from the pain the worst it gets. And the more we feel powerless in the face of pain the worse it gets. If we allow ourselves to be in contact with pain sensations mostly they decrease.
